FISHERIES AND COASTAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT ACTIONS IN PARTIDO STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
In partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Partido State University and the Local Government Units in Partido, the PDA conducted the Biophysical assessment of mangrove, sea grass, corals within the marine protected areas in Partido. Nine out of the ten municipalities were assessed by the monitoring team composed of representatives from the partner agencies.
A Memorandum of Agreement was signed by the partners for the Establishment of Monitoring Structure for Fisheries and Coastal Resources of Partido District, with the following major components 1.) Organization of an Inter-Agency Local Monitoring Team 2.) Capacity and capability Development of the Local Monitoring Team, and 3.) Fishery and Coastal Habitat Assessment. As agreed by the partners, tthe data generated will be consolidatted and made available to the agencies and local governments concerned as inputs to planning and craftng policies to manage and protect the fisheries and coastatl resources in their respective areas.
The conduct of Communicate to Respond and Encourage Actions Towards Environmental (CREATE) Sustainability Seminar on Environmental Conservation of Coastal and Marine Ecosystem and Ecological Waste Management was also spearheaded by the PDA on August 30, 2017 at tthe Partido State University Gymnasium in Goa, Camarines Sur in partnership with the PSU, DENR and BFAR. At least 300 students and school faculty members participated in the activity that aims to raise the awareness of the participants on such environment matters.
