PDA LAUNCHES ENVIRONMENTAL IEC FOR PARTIDO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Partido Development Administration launched the district-wide Information Education Campaign (IEC) dubbed  “Level II – Shaping Young Minds, Nurturing Mother Nature”.  This series of orientations is part of the PDA’s ridge-to-reef IEC on Coastal Resource Management Action (CRMA). 

In partnership with other various partners, this soft approach on fishery and coastal law enforcement aims to radiate learnings about the environment to school children, and to help encourage them to take more active stance in nurturing the environment.

Participants per municipality include Public Schools District Supervisors, school principals, Yes-O coordinators, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators, Municipal Agriculture Officers/Agriculture Technician, SB Chairman on Agriculture/Fishery, SB Chairman on Education.  The first two activities were conducted in the municipalities of Garchitorena and Caramoan.  Below is the schedule per municipality.

Supportive to this undertaking, the USAID granted funds for the reprinting of the book Elementary Hand-in Hand: Integrating Environmental Education into the Philippine Curriculum through Mr. Johann Steipani, the Peace Corps Volunteer deployed in PDA.    Five copies of the book shall be given to each of the 273 elementary schools in Partido.  Mr. Steipani prepared the proposal for this grant, as well as another earlier grant approved for Mural Painting activities and IEC on marine biodiversity in the municipalities of San Jose, Lagonoy and Presentacion, with the participation of student artists from San Rafael National High School (Tigaon) - Special Program for the Arts.

For the municipalities of Garchitorena, Caramoan and Lagonoy,  copies of the book were handed over to the Yes-O coordinators.
